El Salvador: The St. Lucia government has welcomed the launch of a multi-million dollar distribution center by El Salvador

The St. Lucia government has welcomed the launch of a multi-million dollar distribution center by El Salvador based Unicomer Group describing the move as a bold expression in the local economy.

Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony, speaking at the opening of eight million US dollar project, said that “it paves the way for further investments in St. Lucia.

“We thank you for your continued confidence in the St. Lucian economy as you build and plan for the next,” he said.

The Unicomer Group, is a large international retailing group that operates several chains of retail brands in the consumer durables sector, specializing in furniture, appliances, and electronics.

It operates here as Courts (St. Lucia) and Anthony said he as well welcomed the announcement by Guillermo Siman, Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President of the Unicomer Group that it plans to construct a modern retail centre in the north of the island.

He said this speaks volumes about Unicomer’s commitment to St. Lucia 33 years next it began operating here.

“Today, 33 years later, this decision does the same, as we cope from the fall out of a world recession. This show of confidence endorses fully, the World Bank’s ranking of St. Lucia, as the number one place to do business in the region.”
