Angola: Angolan bioenergy company produces 3,100 tons of sugar

Companhia de Bioenergia de Angola (Biocom) produced 3,100 tons of sugar and 3,500 cubic metres of ethanol in its experimental phase, the Director General of the company said.

During a conference to end the trial period of the project, Carlos Matias as well said that the company produced 20 megawatts of electricity by processing sugarcane bagasse.

Matias said the project would be 100-% completed n the initial quarter of 2015, at the same time as it will be formally opened and start producing 256,000 tons of sugar, 28,000 cubic metres of ethanol and 235 megawatts of electricity from sugar cane bagasse.

Located in the Capanda Cacuso Agro-Industral Hub, Biocom is a partnership between the Angolan National, through the National Agency for Private Investment (ANIP) and Sonangol Holding, with 20 %, and the Angolan group Damer and Brazil’s Odebrecht with 40 % each.
