  • Iran to allot land plot for Kazakh grain terminal

    KAZAKHSTAN, 2014/10/18 Iran will allot a land plot for the construction of a Kazakh grain terminal in Golestan province by late 2014, Kazakh Agriculture Ministry said. The Ministry told Trend Agency that this multifunctional terminal with a storage capacity of 20,000 metric tons of grain will be constructed on the Iran-Turkmenistan border near the Inceburun station. The Kazakh Astyk Terminal company has expressed its interest in constructing the terminal.
  • Kazakhstan sees GDP growth at 4%

    KAZAKHSTAN, 2014/10/18 Kazakhstan's Gross Domestic Product grew by 4 % in January-September 2014, Chief of the Statistics Committee under Economy Ministry Alikhan Smailov said. The estimate is based on the short-term economic indicators, namely, on the six major industries and according to estimate estimates in other sectors of the economy. "There is no decline in GDP volume; however there is some slowdown in increase," Smailov said at a briefing in Astana. "We see some reduction in the industry due to the crisis developments related to the sanctions in Russia, a decline in request for exports products imported from Kazakhstan," he said. "There's as well a lag in oil production, but it is planned to reach last year's volume by the end of this year."
  • Kazakhstan to revise forecasts for GDP growth

    KAZAKHSTAN, 2014/10/13 The Kazakh government plans to revise the forecasts for GDP increase in 2014. The news was announced by Kazakhstan's National Economy Minister Erbolat Dossayev on October 9. "The government expects results for nine months to revise the forecasts for this year. The results will be ready by October 15, and again we will take necessary decisions," he said, noting that there exist trends that have a definite impact on the economy of Kazakhstan. In August, the Kazakhs government approved the estimate of socio-economic development of the country for 2015-2019.
  • Kazakh airports to meet ICAO standards by 2020

    KAZAKHSTAN, 2014/10/10 Kazakhstan will bring all airports into line with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) by 2020. The news was announced by Dauren Sabitov, Director of the Department of Transit and Transport Logistics of Kazakhstan's Investment and Development Ministry at a roundtable conference on the development of the transport sector, Trend Agency reported. "We plan to bring all 18 airports of Kazakhstan into line with the ICAO standards by 2020," Sabitov noted.
  • Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan freight traffic ups

    KAZAKHSTAN, 2014/10/09 The freight traffic between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan stood at 1.4 million metric tons in January-July 2014, Turkmen Ambassador to Kazakhstan Magtymguly Akmyradov said on October 9. "During this period, the freight traffic between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan amounted to 1.4 million metric tons, increasing by 42 % compared to the same period of the last year," he said. The ambassador said the increase in the freight traffic is due to the commissioning of the Kazakh-Turkmen section of the Uzen-Kyzylkaya-Bereket-Etrek railway in 2013.

    KAZAKHSTAN, 2014/10/09 Kazakhstan is checking the quality of the AI-92 gasoline in the capital city of Astana. The Astana Department of the Kazakh Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology (KAZMEMST) is checking the Sinooil filling stations for compliance of the AI-92 gasoline with the quality standards, said the message. The checking at the filling stations started next the Astana city hall received citizens' appeal.
  • Caspian Summit in Astrakhan finalizes with breakthrough

    AZERBAIJAN, 2014/10/01 The ice moved on the determination of the status of Caspian Sea in Astrakhan where heads of five littoral states gathered at the fourth Caspian Summit on September 29. Some five-sided intergovernmental documents were signed as part of the summit by relevant ministries of Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. The inventory of agreements included an agreement on cooperation in hydrometeorology of the Caspian Sea, an agreement on cooperation in warning and liquidating emergencies in the Caspian Sea and an agreement on the preservation and rational use of water biological resources in the Caspian Sea.
  • UNDP to issue $14mln to back Astana regional hub

    KAZAKHSTAN, 2014/10/01   Kazakhstan and the United Nations Development Program inked the "Agreement on the Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana", the regional hub's press service reported on September 26. The agreement includes allocation of $14 million for institutional support for the Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana for the next three and a half years. The Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana was created March 2013 as an institutional framework and dialogue platform for continuous exchange of knowledge and experience in the area of civil service across the region.
  • Kazakhstan's First Deputy National Economy Minister Marat Kusainov

    KAZAKHSTAN, 2014/09/30 Kazakhstan plans to change the mechanisms of allocating funds to farmers, Kazakhstan's Initial Deputy National Economy Minister Marat Kusainov said. "There is an urgent need to review the existing funding system. Measures to improve the mechanism have been proposed at a government conference. The proposals have been offered in three categories," he said. Current measures are focused on certain areas, inclunding review of funding mechanism in seed-farming, the revision of the mechanism for irrigation water supply funding, stimulating of the production increase, export of livestock and expansion of the access to investment funding. Kusainov as well noted the measures provide transparency and simplifies administrative procedures on subsidies granting.
  • Kazakhstan renewable energy sources share to reach 3 pct by 2020

    KAZAKHSTAN, 2014/09/15 The share of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan's power grid will reach to 3 % by 2020. The news was announced by Astana Solar LLP, a company involved in the production of solar cells, Trend Agency reported. "The company plans to commission some renewable energy source facilities with a total installed capacity of 3,054.5 MW, some 713.5 MW of which will account for 28 solar power plants in 2014- 2020. Under the plan, the share of renewable energy sources in the country's energy system will stand at 3 % by 2020," the Astana Solar LLP noted.
