  • Air India sets new world record with all-women crew

    INDIA, 2017/03/11 In a quest to set a new world record, Air India has operated a flight around the world with an all-women crew ahead of International Women’s Day. The flight, which departed from here on February 27 for San Francisco, returned at the Indira Gandhi International airport next flying across the globe. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200LR, flew over the Pacific last week on its journey to San Francisco, while the return flight flew over the Atlantic, encircling the globe, Air India said.
  • IndiGo airlines has terminated two of its ground staff

    INDIA, 2016/05/15 IndiGo airlines has terminated two of its ground staff besides suspending three additional employees at the Srinagar airport for a week over security breach last month. The security breach at Srinagar Airport took place on April 1 at the same time as a senior AAI official allegedly misused his position and travelled on a boarding card of his subordinate. An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed the incident and termination of two of the airlines-employees. Sources, however, said that besides sacking the two employees on Friday, the Gurgaon-based budget carrier has as well suspended three ground staff employees for seven days and issued them "warning letters" for "negligence" next investigations found multiple security breaches by a high-ranking security official at the aerodrome.
  • China firm gains contract on feasibility study for Indian high-speed railway

    CHINA, 2015/09/30 A consortium of Chinese and Indian companies will conduct a feasibility study for a high-speed railroad linking New Delhi and Mumbai, China Railway Corporation (CRC) said on Wednesday. The Third Railway Survey and Design Institute Group Corporation, a subsidiary of CRC, will work with Indian firms, dispatching rail experts to initiate the study for the 1,200-km railway, CRC said.

    INDIA, 2014/12/05 After officially re-opening a regional thrice-weekly route to India\'s capital city of Mumbai on Wednesday, Air Seychelles\' CEO Manoj Papa promised that this time the Seychelles to India air link was here to remain . The national carrier of the Seychelles arrived in India\'s commercial hub in its brand new Airbus A320, named Amirantes next an atoll within the outer reaches of the archipelago of 115 islands.

  • Gulf carriers seeking 150,000 more seats into India

    INDIA, 2013/07/20 Gulf carriers are likely to seek permission for additional than 150,000 additional seats a week in capacity from the Indian government, according to a statement from a world aviation consultancy firm. The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA), an international world aviation consulting firm, said access and flights to tier II Indian cities would see the need for increased capacity for Gulf carriers. “CAPA maintains a large dedicated aviation research practice in New Delhi so we monitor developments on foreign airline strategies in India and regulatory issues such as bilateral entitlements on a continuous basis. Our assessment that the Middle East carriers are seeking up to 150,000 additional weekly seats into India is based on this ongoing research,” a spokesperson said.
  • Domestic air passenger traffic marginally by 1.59 % in March

    INDIA, 2013/04/26 Domestic air passenger traffic marginally increased by 1.59 % in March at 51.89 lakh from 51.08 lakh during the corresponding month of last year, the civil aviation ministry said on Thursday. On a month-on-month basis the traffic grew by 6.07 %, as the domestic airlines carried 51.89 lakh passenger in the month under review from 48.92 lakh passengers ferried in February, 2013.

  • Kingfisher shares rise on new licence application

    INDIA, 2012/12/22 Shares in India's grounded Kingfisher Airlines climbed nearly three % Friday on news that the stricken carrier has applied to renew its operating licence. The move came days after Kingfisher, whose liquor baron owner Vijay Mallya has been desperately seeking investment from foreign carriers, said it aims to resume operations in a "phased manner".
