  • Thailand- Vietnam tourism: Seven airlines are operating 119 flights per week

    THAILAND, 2014/09/29 Seven airlines are operating 119 flights per week between the two nations with a seat capacity of 32,647. Vietnamese citizens get a 30-day visa-free entry to Thailand. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) participated in the International Travel Expo (ITE) 2014 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam during 11-13 September, 2014. Marking its 10th anniversary this year, the ITE was held under the theme of “5 Nations – 1 Destination”, a reference to the combined tourism potential of Vietnam, Thailand, Lao PDR., Cambodia and Myanmar, which are working closely together under the umbrella of the Better Mekong Subregion.
  • Thailand-based travel agency gave new smiles to 20 children

    THAILAND, 2014/03/24 To celebrate its 20th anniversary, on March 20, 2014 a Thailand-based travel agency gave new smiles to 20 children through Operation Smile Thailand. Khiri Travel Group 0and partners donated 500,000 baht (US$16,000) to fund the 20 operations for children who suffer from facial deformities such as cleft lip or cleft palate, which often leads to stigma and social exclusion, sometimes even death. The travel agency took the lead role in the fundraising effort which as well saw generous donations from: Asia Transpacific Journeys (USA), Club Travel (NL), Erlebe Fernreisen (DE), Jalan (BE), Greig Smith Travels (UK), NRV Holiday (NL), Red Lantern Journeys (USA), Rickshaw Travel (UK), Riksja Travel/Rickshaw Travel Network (NL), Sawadee Reizen (NL), Take Off Erlebnisreisen (DE), and Younique Travel (NL).
  • Thailand optimistic about 2014 tourism revenue

    THAILAND, 2014/02/17 The Tourism Council of Thailand remains optimistic about tourism revenue in 2014 despite political confrontations. According to President of the Tourism Council of Thailand, Piyaman Techapaiboon, the organization has not lowered its estimate that local hospitality businesses will generate up to 2 trillion baht for the country this year though the political rift continues. Breaking the figure down in detail, Ms Piyaman said 700 billion baht would come from local tourists, while an extra 1.3 trillion baht would be from foreign visitors. In the worst case scenario, the number of foreign tourists would drop by 6%, to 28.1 million; however, should the dispute continue through the initial half of this year, Thailand would lose 82 billion baht worth of revenue from foreign visitors.

Under their sustainable-tourism plan, they intend to establish four zones: high-end beach, family beach, agricultural tourism, and eco-tourism. The area has a competitive chance over other places, offering various tourist attractions inclunding mountains, beaches, palaces, and royal projects.

  • Starwood Hotels expands presence in Thailand

    THAILAND, 2013/10/17 Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) today announced its world-renowned Sheraton brand has expanded its footprint in Thailand with the opening of Sheraton Hua Hin Pranburi Villas in Prachuap Khirikhan, a province famed for its sandy coastline and popular resort towns of Hua Hin and Pranburi.   • Thailand's Minor gets major

    THAILAND, 2013/08/24 Thailand’s Minor Hotel Group has signed a major new partnership that will see it develop a series of high-end resorts in Africa. The transaction with Dubai-based Rani Investment LLC entails the creation of a new joint venture company that will initially take ownership of the Indigo Bay Resort & Spa in Mozambique. Located on Bazaruto Island, 30km off the coast of the southeast African country, the 44-villa resort will be rebranded as the Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort & Spa later this year, and managed by Minor. (The name Minor Corp originates back to Bill Heinecke's father Roy, who registered the company for him. Bill was too young according to Thai company law - he was still considered a minor. Hence the name developed from that.)
  • Tanzania tourism through joint hands with Thailand.

    THAILAND, 2013/08/12  Learning from successful stories on Thai tourism, Tanzania is looking at best options that would help to develop her tourism through joint hands with Thailand. Tanzanian minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Mr. Khamsi Kagasheki said Thailand had made large strides on tourism, something which Tanzania should learn and copy. Mr. Kagasheki expressed optimism that, the signed memorandum of considerate between Thailand and Tanzania on National Parks and Wildlife Management would bring closer the two nations in areas of tourism, mostly wildlife resource tourism.
  • AirAsia founder Tony Fernandes

    THAILAND, 2013/02/14 AirAsia founder Tony Fernandes yesterday met with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to ask the government to help Asia's biggest low-cost carrier to expand its flight network here so that the country is strategically located for regional tourism. He was accompanied by group executives inclunding Azran Osman-Rani, chief executive officer of AirAsia X. They were greeted by Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong and Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt.
  • Tourism Projects Strong Recovery in 2010 (16/12/2010)

    THAILAND, 2010/12/16 The Thai tourism industry has once again proved its resilience and is on track to end 2010 with a strong recovery in spite of the various internal and external crises that affected the industry at large. According to the preliminary data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, international visitor arrivals in January – November showed a good increase of 12.63% to 14,039,523. South Asia showed the highest increase of 22.78% followed by Middle East (21.73%), Africa (16.07%), East Asia (15.14%), and Europe (8.15%).
