Macau: Macau’s population totals 582,000 people at end of 2012

The estimated people of Macau at the end of 2012 was 582,000 people, an increase of 4.4 % against 2011, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said.
According to figures published, 51.8 % of the people was female and 7.7 % of the people was aged over 65, 11.6 % were under 14 and the remaining 80.8 % of the people was between 15 and 64 years old.
At the end of 2012, there were 110,552 non-resident workers in the region, or 16,524 additional than at the end of 2011.

Macau casino revenues fall in April for 23rd consecutive month
2016/05/04 Gross gaming revenue in Macau’s casino in April fell for the 23rd consecutive month to 17.341 billion patacas (US$2.167 billion), said the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ). In April, which continued the contraction that began in June 2014, gross revenue contracted by 9.5 % in monthly terms. Accumulated gross revenue from the beginning of the year amounted to 73.517 billion patacas (US$9.189 billion), an annual contraction of 12.4 %. -
Macau posts trade deficit of US$1.825 billion in the 1st quarter
2016/05/04 Macau’s trade deficit in the initial quarter 2016 reached 14.602 billion patacas (US$1.825 billion), a year on year development of 25.3 %, reported the Statistics and Census Bureau. According to the Bureau, the trade deficit in the initial quarter of 2015 totalled 19.5516 billion patacas. 2016/05/04 A Macau economic mission is taking part in São Paulo in APAS 2016, an international trade equitable for the supermarket sector organised by the Paulista Association of Supermarkets, from 2 to 5 May, according to official data. The delegation, organised by the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), will meet with entrepreneurs and institutions topromote the territory as a business platform with Portuguese-speaking nations.
