  • The 6th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum to be Held in Beijing

    BAHRAIN, 2015/07/10 Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hong Lei announced at the press conference: Upon agreement of China and the League of Arab States, the 6th ministerial conference of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum will be held in Beijing on June 5. Foreign ministers or representatives from China and Arab states inclunding the Secretary-General of the Arab League will attend the conference.
  • Saudi king, most Gulf leaders to skip landmark US summit

    BAHRAIN, 2015/05/13 Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and leaders from three other Gulf states have cancelled plans to attend a landmark US-Gulf summit hosted by President Barack Obama this week amid persistent concerns in the region over US nuclear talks with Iran. Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir announced that newly named Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef would represent the world's top oil exporter at the summit, which US sources say will focus on military cooperation. The king’s son, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, will as well attend.
  • IATA to hold 70th Annual General Meeting in Doha, Qatar

    QATAR, 2014/03/20 The 70th IATA Annual General Conference (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit will be held in Doha, Qatar from 1 to 3 June 2014. This year’s AGM will be held as we celebrate 100 years of commercial aviation. The world airline industry is on track to deliver profits of $18.7 billion, the highest absolute profit in the history of the industry. But for an industry that generates $745 billion in revenue, that’s a net profit margin of just 2.5%. The cyclical economic upturn is supporting a strong request environment, compensating for the challenges of higher fuel costs related to geo-political instability. There are as well other risks: nations tightening monetary policies inclunding introducing regulations that dampen travel request. Nonetheless, the industry continues to move forward to meet its targets on improving safety and security, environmental sustainability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Qatar will be ready to host the 2022 World Cup Finals

    QATAR, 2014/01/05 Qatar will be ready to host the 2022 World Cup Finals whether the competition is played in summer or winter, Nasser Al-Khater from the organizing committee told AFP. Football’s world governing body FIFA has launched a consultation process over whether the tournament should be moved from its habitual June and July dates to the winter to avoid the unbearable heat in the Gulf. However, Al-Khater says the uncertainty has had no impact on Qatar 2022’s work thus far. “Our plans are still to deliver the World Cup in the summer as we have bid and as we have promised,” he said.
  • Qatar Airways to host Arab Air Carriers Organisation event

    QATAR, 2013/08/26  Qatar Airways is to host the 46th Annual General Conference of the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) from November 5-7 at the Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel. The national airline had hosted the initial AGM of AACO in Doha in 2001. Established in 1965 by the Arab League of States and headquartered in Beirut, AACO is a non-profit organisation gathering 30 Arab member airlines and aims to promote co-operation, quality and safety standards part its carriers.
