  • UNWTO: International tourism – strongest half-year results since 2010

    AFGHANISTAN, 2017/09/09 Destinations worldwide welcomed 598 million international tourists in the initial six months of 2017, some 36 million additional than in the same period of 2016. At 6%, increase was well above the trend of recent years, making the current January-June period the strongest half-year since 2010. This represents the strongest half-year in seven years.

    GEORGIA, 2014/11/08 Georgia’s gain from international tourism stood at $750 million over the initial six months of 2014, or 43 % additional than in the same period of 2013. The country’s economy ministry reported that the share of tourism in GDP was 5.89 % in Q1, and 7.2 % in Q2 The greatest flow of tourists to Georgia is seen in Q3 at the same time as the tourism season peaks in the period between July and August, and beginning of September.
